Probe Demanded in Delhi Coaching Centre Flooding Tragedy

Delhi is demanding answers as Revenue Minister Atishi calls for swift action and accountability following the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants due to flooding at an Old Rajinder Nagar coaching centre. Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, tasked with the magisterial inquiry, faces scrutiny for delays.

In a note sent earlier in the day, Minister Atishi criticized Chief Secretary Kumar for the lack of urgency in submitting the inquiry report by the stipulated 10 pm deadline. The incident, with victims hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala, underscores systemic issues regarding urban infrastructure and governance.

The Delhi MCD has already suspended an assistant engineer and terminated a junior engineer implicated in the case. Additionally, desilting reports from multiple agencies were submitted to the Urban Development department. Minister Atishi emphasized that any protection of culprits would not be tolerated, urging immediate and strongest possible actions.
