A Delhi court has reserved its decision on the bail plea of Manuj Kathuria, who was arrested for allegedly causing the flooding of a coaching center's basement in the Old Rajinder Nagar area. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of three civil services aspirants.
Judicial Magistrate Vinod Kumar decided to reserve the order on Kathuria's bail request. Kathuria faces accusations of driving his Force Gurkha SUV through a rainwater-flooded street, causing the water to breach the gates of a three-story building and inundate the basement.
Kathuria's counsel argued that he lacked the knowledge or intent to cause the incident. However, Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava opposed the bail, highlighting video evidence of Kathuria's reckless driving. Srivastava emphasized the ongoing police investigation and potential risks of witness tampering if Kathuria is released on bail.
