Teacher's Tragic Murder Sparks Investigation in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government announced in the assembly that a probe is ongoing into the murder of teacher Shankar Lal Meghwal in Salumbar district. The case is being investigated under various legal provisions, including the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused, who later attempted suicide, has died.

The Rajasthan government has initiated a probe into the murder of teacher Shankar Lal Meghwal in Salumbar district, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel informed the assembly on Tuesday.

A case has been registered at Jawar Mines police station under various legal provisions, including the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The investigative proceedings are currently underway.

Following discussions with Meghwal's family, his body was handed over post-mortem and cremated on Monday. The attack occurred on July 25 when the accused, Fateh Singh, attacked Meghwal with a sword. Singh subsequently attempted suicide and succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
