Karnataka Deputy CM Urges PM for Greater Development Funds

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, advocating for increased funds for the development of Bengaluru and state irrigation projects. Addressing the limited budget allocations, he highlighted Bengaluru's significant tax contributions and the need for major infrastructure improvements due to increasing population pressures.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, pushing for more funds aimed at the development of Bengaluru and state irrigation projects.

Shivakumar noted that despite Karnataka's significant tax contributions, Bengaluru received minimal allocation in the recent Union budget. He requested funds for projects including a signal-free corridor, tunnel development, and irrigation.

In discussions about water management, Shivakumar pointed out the substantial water release to Tamil Nadu and sought the Prime Minister's intervention in the Mahadayi river dispute. Modi reportedly promised to address some concerns in upcoming Cabinet meetings.
