Interstate Gang Leaders Booked Under MCOCA After Chain-Snatching Arrest

Police have arrested two interstate gang leaders under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) after a chain-snatching incident in Mumbai. Authorities have detained two interstate gang leaders implicated in a chain-snatching incident in Mumbai and placed them under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), officials announced on Sunday.

The two suspects, hailing from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended on July 14 following a July 3 incident where a 42-year-old woman's 'mangalsutra' was forcibly taken in the Bhandup area. The Nallasopara police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including voluntary hurt and robbery.

Upon investigation, it surfaced that the arrested men had 38 serious charges against them across Maharashtra, UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. The Nallasopara police invoked the MCOCA on Saturday to address the organized criminal activities of the suspects.
