West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday addressed concerns over water releases from Jharkhand, discussing the issue with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. She claimed the water release was causing man-made flood-like conditions in West Bengal.
The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) responded, saying the water discharge is expected to reduce due to decreased rainfall, minimizing flood threats downstream. They emphasized that the West Bengal government has improved river flow capacity significantly.
Banerjee noted ongoing monitoring and coordination with district officials to manage the situation and ensure public safety. Despite assurances from DVC, she urged vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents.
