BSF Steps Up Security with High Alert Amid Bangladesh Unrest

The Border Security Force (BSF) intensified security measures on Tuesday, holding meetings with state officials and border villagers in West Bengal in response to the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh.

BSF Director General (Acting) Daljit Singh Chawdhary, along with senior commanders, inspected the Petrapole border, South Asia's largest land port, located in Bongaon of North 24 Parganas district. 'The situation is under control, with enhanced security along the entire stretch,' stated a BSF official.

A high alert has been issued along the 4,096-km India-Bangladesh border. Coordination meetings emphasized vigilance and cooperation with local officials to prevent infiltration and smuggling. Villagers are advised to restrict movement during night hours, and market closures by 9 pm have been mandated.
