Eastern Indian states, including West Bengal and Tripura, have intensified security measures following the unrest in Bangladesh that led to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and subsequent fleeing from the country. As a result, the Bihar police issued alerts for several parts of the state.
Cross-border trade has halted at Petrapole land port, stranding hundreds of Indian trucks. BSF Acting Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary visited the Petrapole border to review tactical and operational preparedness and discussed strategies to combat illegal infiltration and smuggling.
Meanwhile, the turmoil has disrupted trade and transport services, with Indian exporters expressing concerns over the impact on exporting goods to Bangladesh. The Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express and the Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express remain suspended, awaiting further updates from authorities.
