No Plans for Law on Electoral Bonds: Government

The Lok Sabha has been informed that there are no current plans to introduce legislation on electoral bonds for political party funding. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also confirmed that no alternative proposals or Election Commission-based funding methods are under consideration following the Supreme Court's annulment of the scheme.

The government has no plans to introduce legislation on electoral bonds for political party funding, as confirmed in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated in a written reply that no proposals for electoral bond-related laws or alternative funding methods through the Election Commission are on the table.

This follows the Supreme Court's February decision to annul the electoral bonds scheme, citing violations of the constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression, as well as the right to information.
