West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday reached out to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, urging him to address alleged assaults on labourers from West Bengal.

A senior official reported that Banerjee expressed her concerns about the mistreatment of these individuals, who are being mistaken for Bangladeshis by locals.

Banerjee also called for the labourers to return to West Bengal to take advantage of opportunities in their home state.
