Poland's Strategic Purchase: 96 Apache Helicopters from the U.S.

Poland has fortified its military forces by finalizing a contract with the United States to purchase 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. This significant move comes as a direct response to Russia's recent actions in Ukraine, highlighting Poland's commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities.

Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the $12 billion deal, which includes a comprehensive package of logistics, maintenance equipment, and training. These new helicopters will replace the older Soviet-era Mi-24 models, offering advanced capabilities in combat engagements and reconnaissance missions.

Additionally, Poland's defense ministry has entered into offset agreements with Boeing and General Electric worth around 1 billion zlotys ($255 million). These deals are aimed at compensating for the Apache acquisition, ensuring robust support and infrastructure for the new fleet.
