Govind Mohan Appointed as New Union Home Secretary

Senior IAS officer Govind Mohan will succeed Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the Union Home Secretary. Currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Mohan will join the Ministry of Home Affairs as Officer on Special Duty before taking over as Home Secretary in August 2024.

Senior IAS officer Govind Mohan has been appointed as the next Union Home Secretary, replacing Ajay Kumar Bhalla, according to an official order issued on Wednesday.

Mohan, who is currently the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, will first join the Ministry of Home Affairs as Officer on Special Duty.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the transfer, and Mohan will officially assume the role of Home Secretary upon Bhalla's tenure completion on August 22, 2024.
