Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam, leading a division bench, questioned the police's intelligence for not anticipating the gathering of 7,000 individuals. The court discussed closing the hospital after a woman doctor was reportedly raped and murdered. Separate affidavits must be submitted by the police and the hospital by August 21 to explain the 'true state of affairs'.
The incident led to vandalism at the hospital, further affecting junior doctors protesting since August 9. The court has also directed the CBI to expedite its investigation into the alleged crime, emphasizing the need for increased protection for doctors and analyzing the police's failure to manage the mob effectively.
