In a tragic incident, a 46-year-old man, reportedly a driver for a Uttar Pradesh minister, was found hanging in a state guest house in Bareilly on Sunday, police revealed.
The man, identified as Rajveer Singh, resident of Barabanki district and driver for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh, was discovered at the Public Works Department (PWD) guest house in Civil Lines.
According to Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Sharma, Rajveer allegedly committed suicide late Saturday night. The incident came to light on Sunday when several phone calls to him went unanswered, prompting the minister's gunman to check his room. Upon breaking the door, Rajveer was found hanging with headphones in his ears.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and the family has been notified. Minister Dharampal Singh, who was not in the vicinity at the time, is a BJP MLA from Aonla constituency in Bareilly district.
