A 19-year-old man claiming to be an Agniveer and five accomplices were detained on Sunday for allegedly executing a Rs 50 lakh jewellery heist in Bhopal, law enforcement officials stated.

Chief suspect Mohit Singh Baghel, from Rewa district, asserted he is an Agniveer presently stationed in Pathankot, Punjab, disclosed police deputy commissioner Shraddha Tiwari. An identity card retrieved from Baghel is under scrutiny with army authorities for verification, according to Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra.

Inspector Amit Soni from Bagsewania police station reported that Baghel entered the city to visit a friend, conspiring with Akash Rai to loot a jewellery shop on August 13. Wearing helmets and armed, they committed the robbery with four others. All six, including a woman, have been apprehended in Bhopal and Rewa.
