In a disturbing incident, police in Maharashtra's Nashik district have taken a 39-year-old man into custody for allegedly raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter, an official confirmed on Wednesday.
The accused, a farm laborer, reportedly committed the crime near Ojhar in Niphad taluka on Tuesday. Under the guise of bringing fodder for cattle, he lured his stepdaughter to a nearby vineyard, where he assaulted her and threatened her with death if she spoke of the ordeal, according to the official.
The young victim immediately informed her mother upon returning home, leading to the prompt arrest of the accused by the police.
