NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Friday raised alarm over the rising incidents of atrocities against young girls and women in Maharashtra. He stressed that the home department should remain vigilant to curb such crimes.

Referring to the shocking incident in Badlapur, where a crime occurred in a school, Pawar highlighted the need for stringent action. Public protests erupted following the alleged crime, and Pawar emphasized that the state government needs to act decisively to prevent such occurrences.

In the aftermath of the alleged sexual assault of two kindergarten girls in Badlapur town, Thane district, Pawar pointed out the rising number of similar crimes across the state. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition has called for a Maharashtra Bandh on August 24 to protest. Pawar urged all societal factions to participate, as crowds had previously taken to the streets and railway tracks in Badlapur to protest the incident.
