The teacher had been evading authorities after an altercation with the girl's father. The school's headmaster was also arrested earlier for not reporting the matter when the father filed a complaint.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule visited the school, urging a thorough investigation into the incident.
