Duo Arrested for Assaulting Pune Police Officer

Two men, Nihalsingh Tak and Rahul Singh, were arrested for assaulting an Assistant Police Inspector (API) in Pune. The API, Ratnakar Gaikwad, sustained a severe head injury while intervening in an argument. The perpetrators were apprehended in Solapur, and an investigation is ongoing under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Two men were arrested in Solapur on Monday for allegedly assaulting and injuring an Assistant Police Inspector (API) in Pune, according to a police official.

The suspects, Nihalsingh Tak and Rahul Singh, were detained 250km from Pune after a tip-off led police to their location.

The attack, which left API Ratnakar Gaikwad with a severe head injury, occurred on Sunday when he tried to break up an argument in Pune's Hadapsar area. The perpetrators are being investigated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
