Regional Security Boost: Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat Established

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with representatives from the Maldives, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, signed the Charter and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat. The move aims to enhance regional security by addressing transnational threats and challenges faced by member states.
The Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) is a strategic platform that unites National Security Advisors and Deputy NSAs from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Mauritius. Key focus areas include maritime security, counter-terrorism, and cybersecurity, with a specific emphasis on India's strategic interests in the Indian Ocean.
The signing ceremony, hosted by the Sri Lankan government, marked a significant milestone in the CSC roadmap. The five pillars of cooperation under CSC are Maritime Safety and Security, Countering Terrorism and Radicalisation, Combating Trafficking and Transnational Organised Crime, Cyber Security, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief. Bangladesh and the Seychelles hold observer status in the Conclave.
