A 17-year-old high school student has confessed to the fatal stabbing of his 12-year-old brother and parents, citing a general sense of 'malaise,' prosecutors revealed on Monday. The crime has left Italy in shock, with the teenager unable to provide a coherent motive for the triple homicide.

The brutal incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday in a Milan suburb, following a family celebration for the father's 51st birthday. The teen perpetrator retrieved a kitchen knife and first attacked his younger brother in their shared room. When the mother investigated the noise, she was fatally stabbed, followed by the father who came to their aid.

According to Sabrina Ditaranto, a prosecutor focused on youth offenses, the victims suffered multiple stab wounds to their throats and necks. Initially, the suspect contacted police and claimed he had killed his father in self-defense, but later confessed to all three murders.

'From a judicial point of view, we don't have a motive,' said Ditaranto during a press briefing, adding that the suspect reported a personal 'malaise' unrelated to family issues. The incident has ignited a debate on youth isolation exacerbated by the pandemic and social media. Investigators examined the teen's social media and music consumption, but discovered no clear motive beyond his sense of isolation.

This case follows the unrelated stabbing death of a 33-year-old woman near Bergamo, where suspect Moussa Sangare, 30, has been detained and confessed to randomly selecting his victim.
