In Himachal Pradesh, protests demanding the demolition of allegedly illegal mosques have ignited significant tension. A Muslim organisation countered these claims, stating that no mosques in the state are illegal; instead, they face delays in map approvals and other bureaucratic processes. Naheem Ahmed, president of the Muslim Welfare Committee in Mandi, reiterated that the community would willingly remove structures if they were genuinely illegal. To address the situation, a state-level committee will be constituted to meet with the Chief Minister.

On Monday, Hindu groups continued their campaign with a 'Hindu Dharam Jagaran Yatra' in Kullu, amid tight security. The rally included music, traditional dress, and calls for the removal of the mosque. Recent communal clashes have fuelled demands for mosque demolitions and increased scrutiny of outsiders entering the state.

District authorities in Kullu clarified that the Akhara Bazaar mosque is not illegal but has a size discrepancy in official records. The case for regularisation is ongoing. Similar protests have been reported in Shimla and Mandi, resulting in injuries and required police intervention. The issue remains contentious, with both sides preparing for further discussions.
