Odisha DGP Promises Normalcy Within Days

Odisha DGP Y B Khurania assured that normalcy would resume in Bhadrak within days. Following a clash over social media, prohibitory orders and internet suspension were imposed. Police forces and the Rapid Action Force were deployed for security. Khurania urged residents to ignore provocative posts.

Odisha Director General of Police Y B Khurania announced on Tuesday that complete normalcy is expected in Bhadrak district within one to two days. He urged residents not to be influenced by provocative social media posts.

Prohibitory orders were imposed and internet services suspended in Bhadrak and Dhamnagar following a clash over a controversial social media post on Friday evening. Reviewing the situation, the DGP stated that conditions were well under control and no further incidents had occurred. About 12 platoons and one company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed in Bhadrak, and six platoons along with one RAF company were positioned in Dhamnagar. Police conducted regular flag marches to reassure the public.

Local authorities reported that the police registered five cases and arrested 27 individuals for their alleged involvement in the violence. Two police officers were injured during the unrest. Markets in the area have been allowed to open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The decision to restore internet services is still pending review.
