The Karnataka government is set to celebrate three decades of the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, through the National Swaraj Conference on November 13 and 14, according to official sources.

This initiative aims to uphold Mahatma Gandhi's vision of village self-governance, emphasizing that 'India's heart lies in the villages,' as highlighted by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Priyank Kharge.

The event will feature a series of national-level programs, including seminars, round table councils, workshops, and dialogues, to review thirty years of the Panchayat system in Karnataka and draft the Karnataka Swarajya Charter for the next three decades. Experts across social, economic, legal, and administrative fields will contribute to these discussions, which will culminate in the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Declaration. Kharge noted that the principles of Satya (Truth), Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Asteya (Honesty), and Maitri (Brotherhood) inspired the conference.
