Two Swedish teenagers were placed in pre-trial detention after being linked to two early morning explosions near the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen. The blasts, which occurred on Wednesday in an area housing many diplomatic missions, have raised concerns about a potential terror motive, although no injuries were reported.
The teenagers, aged 16 and 19, were detained for 27 days under preliminary charges of possessing illegal weapons, including five hand grenades. Two grenades exploded, causing damage to a nearby rooftop. The incident led to the closure of a Jewish school in the neighborhood. Authorities arrested the suspects on a train in Copenhagen, with a court session set behind closed doors.
While the Swedish SAPO agency does not currently classify the incident as terrorism, Danish and Swedish officials are investigating the aggravated weapons offenses tied to the blasts. Separately, shots were fired at the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm, though there's no confirmation of a connection between the two events.
