Allianz Offices Targeted by Activists Over Defence Firm Links
Pro-Palestinian activists protested against Allianz in the UK, accusing the company of supporting Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems. Demonstrations included vandalizing multiple offices with red paint. The protest coincided with the anniversary of the Gaza war's commencement, drawing attention to ongoing tensions in the region.
Pro-Palestinian activists launched a coordinated protest against German financial services firm Allianz in the UK, highlighting the company's alleged links to Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems. Activists marked the offices with red paint as part of their demonstration against the military partnership.
Palestine Action, claiming responsibility for the protest on social media, reported targeting ten Allianz offices across the nation, including an overnight occupation of the insurer's headquarters in Guildford. The group criticized Allianz for insuring and investing in Israel's major weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems.
Police responded to the incidents early Tuesday morning, arresting a suspect linked to the vandalism in London's financial district. These protests align with the anniversary of the Gaza war and aim to pressure firms involved in defense deals with Israel. Allianz and British lender Barclays have been frequent targets of such activism.
