The Central Intelligence Unit within Chennai's Enforcement Bureau CID Tamil Nadu has successfully apprehended four individuals suspected of interstate ganja smuggling, police reported on Saturday. The operation led to the seizure of 200 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 20 lakh.

This significant bust involved the confiscation of a mini load carrier and a car, both registered in Andhra Pradesh, believed to have been used to transport the narcotics into Tamil Nadu. The operation, conducted on October 17, began with a tip-off that prompted authorities to intercept a vehicle near the Elavur check post in Tiruvallur.

Inspector Anbarasi led the operation, which uncovered 10 parcels of ganja weighing 100 kg hidden within a secret chamber in the vehicle. The successful operation was overseen by senior officials, including the Superintendent of Police, CIU, Chennai, and the Director General of Police.
