In anticipation of the New Year's Eve celebrations, Mumbai has deployed more than 14,000 police personnel citywide to maintain law and order, officials reported Tuesday.
With large crowds expected at iconic locations such as the Gateway of India and Marine Drive, security measures include increased surveillance, with officers in plain clothes and CCTV monitoring to prevent any incidents.
The police force will see a deployment of State Reserve Police Force platoons, Quick Response Teams, and specialized units. Traffic authorities will also focus on preventing drunk driving, and strict measures will be in place against harassment and illicit activities, according to officials.
