Kerala Forest Minister A K Saseendran has dismissed calls for his resignation from two Syro Malabar Church bishops, labeling them as politically motivated. The bishops, from Thamarassery and Kanjirappally, demand the minister take moral responsibility for ongoing wildlife attacks in the state, which they say is a result of poor governance.

The bishops criticized the Forest department’s approach, stating it lacks effectiveness. Saseendran expressed surprise at the bishops' stance, given he held them in high regard. He pointed out that while citizens can critique ministers, he viewed bishops as being above such political engagements.

At a recent convention, Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil criticized the government's inaction in handling wildlife attacks, calling for Saseendran's resignation. Similarly, Bishop Mar Jose Pulickal questioned the state’s efforts in addressing the crisis. Saseendran hopes to maintain the bishops' perceived moral authority.
