The Maharashtra Cyber Department and the Mumbai Police have summoned prominent comedian Samay Raina following controversial remarks by social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia on the YouTube show 'India's Got Latent.'

Currently overseas, Raina has requested additional time to comply, while investigations proceed in both departments. Ranveer Allahbadia's comments, which ignited debates over free speech and decency, have also caught the attention of Parliament. Lawmaker Naresh Mhaske has even pushed for legislation to regulate social media content. Meanwhile, the social media influencer, with a following of over 16 million, issued an apology video, describing his words as a 'lapse in judgement.'

The issue continues to be contentious, bringing national entities such as the National Commission for Women into the fray. They have summoned key participants, including Raina, Allahbadia, and other show figures, to appear before them in New Delhi.
