At least nine coal miners lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries in a tragic incident involving a roadside bomb in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Friday, according to officials.
The explosion occurred in the Shahrag area of Harnai district when the device struck a mini truck transporting the miners, as confirmed by Harnai Deputy Commissioner Hazrat Wali Kakar. Immediate fatalities numbered nine.
Law enforcement agencies promptly initiated a manhunt for those responsible, while Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rand confirmed that an investigation is underway. Although no group has claimed responsibility, similar attacks have historically been linked to the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army.
