Navi Mumbai Police Crack Major Auto-Rickshaw Theft Ring

Navi Mumbai police solved the theft of 18 auto-rickshaws with the arrest of Nisar Sattar Khan. The police, while patrolling, spotted Khan, who matched the CCTV footage from a theft scene. After a chase, he confessed to the thefts, leading the police to recover all stolen vehicles.

Navi Mumbai police have successfully solved a major auto-rickshaw theft ring with the arrest of a suspect linked to 18 thefts. The man, identified as Nisar Sattar Khan from Panvel, was apprehended after he was spotted during a routine police patrol and subsequently chased down.

The breakthrough came when officers in the Panvel area recognized Khan from CCTV footage showing a suspect stealing an auto-rickshaw. Despite his initial attempt to evade capture, a determined pursuit spanning 4 kilometers, aided by local residents, ended in his arrest.

During questioning, Khan confessed to the year-long crime spree, revealing he had stolen auto-rickshaws across Navi Mumbai and sold them in Buldhana. Police recovered all 18 stolen vehicles, valued at Rs 12.45 lakh. Investigation continues to determine ownership of one vehicle with erased identification numbers.
