The Congress party has sharply criticized the government for allegedly attempting to obscure the truth about the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station that resulted in 18 deaths. The incident is being described as a glaring failure of the Railways and an example of governmental insensitivity.

Condemning the government's response, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called it extremely shameful, while Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need for better crowd management, particularly given the influx of devotees heading to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh. Gandhi insisted that proper arrangements should be a priority to prevent such tragedies.

Other Congress leaders, such as AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, echoed these sentiments, demanding accountability and immediate disclosure of casualty figures. The incident, occurring in the heart of the national capital, has raised serious questions about the government's competency in crisis management.
