A District Reserve Guard jawan suffered injuries due to a pressure improvised explosive device blast set by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, local police confirmed on Friday.

The blast occurred around 1.45 pm between the Toymeta and Kawanar villages. The joint patrol team from the DRG and Chhote Dongar police station was conducting a road security operation when the incident unfolded.

As the team cordoned off the area, the jawan accidentally stepped on the pressure IED, causing the explosion. The DRG jawan was subsequently airlifted for medical treatment. Naxalites regularly plant IEDs in roadways and forest paths, aiming at security forces during patrols. Civilians have also faced injuries in the Bastar region, which includes Narayanpur and six other districts.
