The suspect, originating from Chennai, confessed during intense interrogation to smuggling three cylindrical gold pieces, totaling 1.13 kg. He had been contracted by a Bangladeshi smuggler to deliver the precious metal to an associate in Kolkata in exchange for Rs 10,000.
