In a decisive move, Pakistan's security forces successfully conducted an intelligence-based operation in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eliminating six terrorists. The operation was launched following reports of terrorist presence in the area, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military effectively engaged the militants, conducting a sanitization operation to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining threats. This operation comes amid a worrying escalation in terror incidents throughout the country. According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, January 2025 saw a 42% surge in terror attacks.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly its settled and tribal districts, has been increasingly targeted, with 27 attacks in settled areas and 19 in tribal districts recorded last month. These attacks resulted in 91 fatalities nationwide, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in countering terrorism effectively.
