A court has handed down a 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a man convicted of kidnapping and raping a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in 2019. Additional Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar reflected on society's abhorrence for sexual predators in his judgment.
The convict was previously found guilty under the POCSO Act, a law enacted in response to increasing crimes against children. Despite his young age and clean record, the severe nature of his crime justified the sentence.
The ruling also included a compensation of Rs 13.5 lakh for the victim, emphasizing the dual aims of punishment and victim rehabilitation within the justice system.
