According to the European Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused manipulated public procurement processes to secure illicit financial gains. Czech police noted that this probe, which began in 2023, involved 350 officers conducting extensive searches at various locations linked to the case.

While the Czech Health Ministry remains in the dark about specific details, it has pledged full cooperation. The incident underscores broader concerns about transparency within the Czech Republic's public procurement system, despite its relatively high ranking in global corruption indices.
