Haryana's Crime Rate Drops: Notable Decrease in Crimes Against Women

Haryana reports a significant drop in crime against women for 2024, witnessing a 19.6% reduction in incidents. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini credits strengthened police presence for this decline. The state also notes decreases in murder and SC/ST Act violations, as well as improvements in solving kidnapping and robbery cases.

Haryana has made significant strides in reducing crime, particularly against women, as noted in a recent assembly session. The state saw a 19.6% decline in these crimes in 2024, with 9,488 cases registered compared to 11,814 in 2023. The Chief Minister highlighted increased police presence as a crucial factor.

The state also recorded a 23.3% decrease in rape cases and a 19.8% reduction in gang rape incidents. Murder rates dropped by 8.9%, and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases fell by 30.7% compared to the previous year. These improvements reflect enhanced law enforcement efforts across Haryana.

Further, the government's strategy of zero tolerance for crime, supported by modernizing the police force and forming specialized units, has led to considerable successes, including the effective cracking of offenses like kidnapping and robbery. The Special Task Force (STF) played a pivotal role, apprehending numerous high-profile criminals.
