A man named Daniel Day, 29, climbed partway up Big Ben in London's Palace of Westminster on Saturday. This act was part of a pro-Palestinian protest, keeping him on the structure for 16 hours, according to court proceedings held on Monday.

Clutching a Palestinian flag, Day ascended 25 meters of the Elizabeth Tower. He was subsequently charged by police for his climb and remain on the tower as it posed risk to the public. Additionally, he was charged with trespassing on a protected site, leading to disruption in central London, including closed roads and cancelled parliamentary tours, incurring £25,000 in costs.

Day intends to plead not guilty to the first charge, asserting his actions aimed to raise awareness about Gaza and Britain's stance. His case, depending on the attorney general's authorization for the trespassing charge, was adjourned to March 17. Supporters cheered as Day, from eastern England, was taken into custody.
