Karnataka Government Investigates Alleged Gold Smuggling by Actress Linked to Top Police Officer

The Karnataka government has appointed Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta to investigate allegations involving DGP rank officer K Ramachandra Rao's stepdaughter, Kannada actress Ranya Rao, in a gold smuggling case. Gold bars worth Rs 12.56 crore were seized from her, prompting further searches and recoveries.

The Karnataka government has launched an investigation into the alleged involvement of a top-ranking police officer's family in a gold smuggling racket. Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta has been appointed to examine the potential role of DGP rank officer K Ramachandra Rao in the smuggling activities conducted by his stepdaughter, renowned Kannada actress Ranya Rao.

The Chief Minister's office informed media outlets about the investigative order issued on Monday night. Ramachandra Rao is currently the Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation, adding layers of scrutiny to the unfolding case.

Authorities moved swiftly when gold bars with a valuation of Rs 12.56 crore were confiscated from Ranya Rao at Kempegowda International Airport. In subsequent searches of her residence, officials discovered additional gold jewelry and substantial amounts of Indian currency.
