The parliamentary panel examining the 'one nation, one election' concept is set to launch a new website aimed at soliciting suggestions from the public across the country.
P P Chaudhary, a BJP leader and chairman of the Joint Committee on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty–Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, emphasized the panel's commitment to transparency and inclusivity, ensuring every voice is heard on the simultaneous election proposal.
The panel recently engaged with former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, and former Delhi High Court Chief Justice, Rajendra Menon, for their insights. Chaudhary mentioned that this initiative follows historical simultaneous elections held until 1967, with renewed calls for their revival emerging since the 1980s.
