Turkey has expressed cautious optimism regarding a new agreement between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syria's government, according to a Turkish official. The official noted that Turkey, which views the SDF as a terrorist organization, is keen to observe how the agreement will be implemented.

The accord, announced by the Syrian presidency, seeks to integrate SDF-controlled regions into Syria's state institutions. It also aims to incorporate crucial infrastructure, such as border crossings and oil fields, into the Damascus administration. This development coincides with a critical period for Syria, as President Ahmed al-Sharaa addresses the aftermath of violence affecting the Alawite minority.

Ankara remains committed to counter-terrorism efforts, despite the agreement. The Turkish official, requesting anonymity, emphasized the importance of the SDF's disarmament and integration into Syrian institutions, rather than maintaining its current chains of command.
