A Delhi court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the brutal sodomy and murder of a 10-year-old boy in 2018. The decision was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Susheel Bala Dagar.

The judge ruled out the death penalty, stating that the possibility of the convict's reformation was not entirely ruled out, and the case did not fit the 'rarest of rare' criteria usually required for capital punishment.

Despite the atrocity of the crime, the court emphasized the need for reformation. The victim's family, financially marginalized, endured immense suffering. They were awarded Rs 10.5 lakh as compensation for their irreparable loss.
