The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches in Mumbai after filing a bribery case against a legal advisory firm. The firm allegedly attempted to sway a National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) member for a favorable judgment for a client.
The CBI has named AU Corporate Advisory and Legal Services' proprietor, Akshat Khetan, and employee, Mahwsh A Bhat, as key figures. They reportedly solicited Rs 1 crore, negotiating the advance payment down to Rs 20 lakh, to influence the tribunal's decision in favor of Micro Capital Pvt Ltd.
This operation has uncovered a conspiracy involving both private and unidentified public figures, aiming to manipulate NCLT proceedings. Investigations revealed attempts to collect the bribe balance once a favorable order was pronounced, expected by February 14, 2025, according to CBI officials.
