The Swargate bus rape case sees significant developments as the accused, Dattatray Gade, is scheduled to undergo a test identification parade (TIP) while in judicial custody. The local court made the ruling on Wednesday, coinciding with the end of Gade's 12-day police custody.

Authorities have detailed the procedure for the TIP, which will take place within the confines of the jail. An executive magistrate will supervise the parade, ensuring no police personnel are present, and subsequently compile a report to be forwarded to the police.

The crime occurred on February 25, when Gade allegedly posed as a bus conductor, luring a woman into an empty bus at the Swargate terminus, where he then raped her. Diligent police work, coupled with drones and sniffer dogs, led to his capture on February 28 in an agriculture field near his native village.
