In a major breakthrough, police have arrested five members of an inter-state gang responsible for stealing Rs 29.69 lakh from an ATM in March. The gang employed a sophisticated modus operandi, disabling CCTV cameras with black paint and cutting open the ATM cash chest in a swift operation lasting just three minutes.
Investigations revealed that the suspects hailed from Rajasthan and Haryana. On reviewing CCTV footage, police identified the offenders' vehicle passing through Kongara Kalan village, leading to their apprehension. The accused reportedly admitted to planning another ATM heist and their involvement in previous similar crimes.
The police recovered Rs 4 lakh, a car, and various equipment, including an oxygen cylinder and a gas cutter, from the suspects. The gang had a history of ATM thefts across states, notably in Telangana and Odisha. Authorities have launched further investigations to nab remaining accomplices.
