A recently published report by a Parliamentary Committee has brought to light the issue of some private sector employers neglecting to pay required contributions towards their employees' provident funds. The committee has requested the government to address these grievances with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) should further complaints arise.
The 146th report, showcased in Parliament, covers Demands for Grants for 2025-26 related to the Departments of Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances, and Pensioners' Welfare. It highlights that numerous employees in the private sector are affected by employers who either do not contribute their share or fail to deposit even the employees' contributions.
The Committee applauded the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) for halving the grievance disposal time to just 16 days by May 2023 through the CPGRAMS system. To further boost efficiency, the panel suggested integrating state portals with CPGRAMS and standardizing practices for enhanced grievance management.
