In a poignant turn of events, Ukraine successfully arranged the release of several prisoners of war amidst ongoing tensions with Russia. This latest development was confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday.
The group, exchanged with Russia, comprised individuals who suffered injuries or illnesses during captivity. Many had been detained since the onset of Russia's aggressive full-scale invasion in February 2022, according to reports from Kyiv's coordinating council for POWs.
Despite the significant breakthrough, neither President Zelenskiy nor the coordinating council disclosed the precise number of prisoners released in this crucial exchange.
