Mumbai Police Clamp Down on Mephedrone Trafficking

Mumbai's Anti-Narcotics Cell has seized mephedrone worth Rs 2.03 crore and arrested three suspects in a two-week operation. The operation began with the capture of two men in Ghatkopar East who led officers to a third arrest in Andheri West, seizing a total of 1.28 kg of the drug.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, seizing mephedrone valued at Rs 2.03 crore. In a strategic operation that spanned over two weeks, the police have arrested three individuals involved in the distribution of this synthetic stimulant.

The operation commenced on May 30 when ANC officials detained two suspects in Ghatkopar East, located in eastern Mumbai, with 431 grams of mephedrone, popularly known as 'meow meow'. Their arrest and subsequent interrogation revealed another key player in the drug-trafficking network.

Acting on the information gathered, the ANC laid a well-planned trap and apprehended the third suspect in Andheri West, a suburb in western Mumbai. In total, officials have recovered 1.28 kg of mephedrone. This extensive haul underscores the relentless efforts of the police to combat narcotic distribution in the city.
